A selection of Gijs Bakker’s jewellery work is on show at the ‘Unexpected Pleasures – The Art and Design of Contemporary Jewellery’ exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia.
Unexpected Pleasures brings together important jewellery work from around the world, and looks at it from the point of view of the wearer as well as the maker. The exhibition reconceptualises haute jewellery as wearable, with an emphasis on meaning rather than monetary value.
The exhibition is curated by Susan Cohn.
Exhibition dates: 20 April 2012 – 26 August 2012
