After many years of preparation, the Museo del Gioiello in Vicenza (IT) finally opened its doors in December 2014. The beautiful Basilica in the heart of Vicenza, designed and constructed in the 15th century by the famous Italian architect Andrea Palladio, serves as decor for this new museum devoted to the history of jewelry.
The museum opened with nine exhibitions that explore different themes such as Symbol, Function, Beauty, Art, and Future. A special exhibition dedicated on Design was curated by Gijs Bakker and explores the influence of design on contemporary jewelry. The exhibition includes works by internationally renowned designers such as Françoise van den Bosch, Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe, Otto Künzli, Marc Newsom, Ineke Hans and Dinie Besems.
